Preparing for Installation
You will need the following items for Frenetik installation:
- A desktop Linux running Ubuntu 24 or Rocky 10 (others may work, but these 2 are tested)
- 2+ CPU’s
- 8+ GB Memory
- 100GB HDD
- A method to visually interact with the Linux desktop. This could be hands-on-keyboard, VNC, RDP, etc.
- Network connectivity to the resources you want to add In-Use Deception. For example, if you want to run identity operations against Entra (M365), the machine running Frenetik must be able to interact with Entra API’s. If you want to run remote access operations against Entra Private Access the machine running Frenetik must be able to interact via WinRM with the Entra Private Access connector, and via SSH with the ZScaler Private Access connector. We recommend you put Frenetik in a dedicated firewall zone and tightly control access to and from it to only the necessary ports and protocols.
- Frenetik software tarball (In your frenetik.us/account software downloads)
- Frenetik license (you receive this via e-mail)
- Consider the areas you want to add Frenetik. Identity supports Entra (M365), AWS, GCP, and Remote Access supports Entra Private Access, ZScaler Private Access, and Reverse Proxies NGINX, Apache, etc. Think about the users you want to protect, the interval for change, the structure of the randomized naming, and the notification method. Will it be via a out of band burner email, SMS, Signal, printing off cards and handing to them?
- Installation should take less than 1 hour
